WHY SHARKPA BOWLING PADS?
Maintains Consistent Ball Motion In-Game
Excessive amounts of oil on the surface of your bowling ball, may impact the ball motion down-lane. Leaving oil on the ball may be the difference in a pocket strike or a single-pin leave. If an amateur bowler doesn’t clean their ball, they will likely change how they throw their ball to get it back to the pocket. This will affect their swing style over time. That same bowler wouldn’t need to do that if they were to wipe the oil off the surface of the ball between shots. In other words, You repeat your shots and the Sharkpa will repeat the motion.
Saves Money By Creating Equipment Longevity
The typical lifespan of a well-maintained bowling ball is 300-450 games. The lifespan significantly decreases when maintenance is ignored. Sharkpa will save you money over time by giving more life out of each bowling ball you invest in. For the typical house bowler, you’ll preserve your bowling ball for 3-4 seasons with a Sharkpa.
Removes Tough Ball Tac & Belt Marks Fast
The Sharkpa, when combined with Tac-Up, Black Magic or other liquid agents removes hard to clean dirty belt marks on your ball. Most Pearl-Stock Balls and Plastic Balls resist belt marks in the first place, but Solid Stock Bowling Balls are very susceptible to rubber belt marks. These rubber marks tend to be very difficult to remove. To the point where we see house bowlers using acetone, alcohol and other harmful liquid agents to achieve a clean surface. These aggressive chemicals are not recommended by any of the ball manufactures. Sharkpa will make cleaning rubber tac cleaning easier than any other material, period.
Effectively Deep Cleans Surface Pores
Under microscope, each bowling ball has a unique fingerprint. Although the ball feels smooth to the touch, it is actually full of ridges and absorbent pores. Over time, an uncleaned bowling ball will begin to retain too much oil, smoothing out the reactive ridges on the surface. Think of it like a balding tire on your vehicle. A brand-new tire has aggressive traction, whereas a bald tire slips and struggles to maintain traction. The Sharkpa pulls oil out of the depths of the surface to maintain traction for a long-lasting ball reaction.
Patent Pending Oil-Wicking Technology
Each Sharkpa Pad is equipped with an industrial-grade oil absorbent pad. The oils in the cloth, over time, wick down into the pad to keep the cloth dry and ready for use each time. This oil-wicking pad is not susceptible to water absorption. It will only absorb the mineral oils found deep in the cloth substrate.
Convenient Size Fits Your Hand
The Sharkpa fits perfectly in your hand and clips onto your bowling bag. Other bowling towels take up space in your bag and overpower the size of your hand. Look at your typical shammy or microfiber towel. Not only did you pay too much for them, you only use the center of the material. Why do these manufactures waste so much material? You will use the entire surface of your Sharkpa Pad and reverse it at any time you see fit. At only $15, you can afford to simply throw it away at the end of the season. Typical house bowlers may even get two seasons out of it, depending how frequently the player uses the pad. Prime Members can pick it up for even less.
Is The Sharkpa Bowling Shammy Machine Washable?
Hand washing is recommended, if you insist on washing the Sharkpa™. Wash instructions: Spray both sides of the pad with WD-40, then massage the pad in vinegar water until clean. Lay flat to dry. However, after a single wash or two, you will want to replace the pad. The interior pad has a single use shelf life, as it will not be as effective at drawing the oils out of the fabric after it is washed. The exterior plush fabric will wear over time as well, and will eventually need to be replaced even after being washed. Machine washing may cause the interior pad to become mushy or ball up to one side of the pad.
Further, The Sharkpa will last an entire bowling season before needing to be replaced. Unless the user is frequently using it through competitions and typical league, etc. I suggest buying two. One that stays dry at all times (used only while in session) and one that you will be used with cleaners after a round, or a session of bowling as been played.
Additional Considerations
Abralon Pads vs. Sharkpa Pads
Sharkpa Pads do not change or alter the surface of the bowling ball. Abralon pads physically change the surface of the ball. The Sharkpa absolutely will not be a replacement for the abralon pad.
Approved to Meet the Dry Towel Requirement
The dry towel rule, Rule 18, went into effect August 1, 2019. The rule states that while bowling in a USBC Competition, a bowling ball cannot have the surface of the bowling ball altered, cleaned with liquids or cleaning agents, and cannot have foreign materials on the surface of the ball. All bowling balls cleaned or altered during competition must immediately be removed from the competition. A fresh Sharkpa aggressively clears oil from the ball, remains dry, and is not abrasive like some dirty suede or leather rags.
Keep in mind: If you use Sharkpa Pads with cleaning agents to clean your ball prior to competition, be sure to use a second dry Sharkpa during competition. Your Sharkpa may retain traces of cleaning agents in the surface pad for up to 2 hours.

Sharkpa "Hoo Ha Ha!" | Behind The Name » Trademark Info
Sharkpa Word Mark Trademark
Sharkpa™ is officially a Registered Trademark Brand with the USPTO in the United States of America. Serial Number: 90625906 – Classified Sporting Goods / Bowling Accessories
The name Sharkpa represents a Bowling Pad that wipes the oil off of a bowling ball. It is a bowling ball polisher.
The Prefix [Shark-] was given to the pad, because in the sport of ten-pin bowling the shark oil pattern uses the highest volume of oil on the lane. If there is a high volume of oil, then the bowler will need a bowling pad that absorbs high volumes of oil. Also, the slang term “shark” references an elite status or skill level in a sport. Finally, when you look at the Skin of a shark under a microscope it closely resembles that of the texture of the cloth used for these pads.
The Suffix [-Pa] represents the performance and movement of the ball. The Etymology Term IPA, suffix [-pa], when classified in directions; signifies directional movement or movement relative to an object. When oil is consistently and completely wiped off the surface of the bowling ball, then the ball responds consistently on an accurate line on the lanes.
Sonic Logo: “Hoo Ha Ha!
When my wife and kids were playing around with the name of the bowling pad. My kids said that Sharkpa reminded them of the scene in Pixar’s, Finding Nemo, where the fish tank tribe was challenging Nemo to swim through the bubbles chanting, “Shark Bait, Hoo Ha Ha!” Together as a family we had a laugh when we all chanted “Skarkpa, Hoo Ha Ha!” From there it stuck! Every time we mentioned the name Sharkpa, it was always followed by HOO HA HA! Everywhere I go, people will randomly shout “Sharkpa, Hoo Ha Ha” when they see me.
On April 7th, 2021: My wife and I were looking up the correct spelling of the phrase, hoo ha ha, when we surprisingly discovered that the term is listed in the Urban Dictionary as, “What is yelled when someone throws an awesome strike in bowling.” We both shared a laugh at the coincidence.
The actual Sonic Logo is voiced by Sam Anderson from Creative Radio Jingles in Saint Cloud, MN.
